Today Olivia gets her PASSPORT.

Kevin with director picking up her passport

We got up early this morning and started packing up everything because we are leaving Xi An and going to Guangzhou. We stayed in our hotel room today and Olivia had a good time playing in the room. She loves to play with her cup and spoon. She hasn't been interested in the stuffed animal or doll that I brought her, so I have just left them in the suitcase. We got out a coloring book and crayons to see if we could get her to color. She wasn't interested in it at first but then she changed her mind. When she first picked up the crayon she would barely write on the paper. I showed her how to use the crayon again and Kevin did too, then she picked up the crayon and pressed harded and drew on the paper. She even learned how to take the crayons out of the package and put them back in correctly. She watched Kevin take them out one at a time and she did the same thing, but I really liked watching her put the crayons back correctly. Lily picked Kevin up at 11:00 am to go to the director's office to pick up Olivia's passport and to take our three gifts. Kevin said that he was in a very good mood today. He talked to Lily and Kevin. I couldn't believe it. Sunday when they brought the babies in he never spoke one word to any of us or even looked our way. Somehow he ignored all of us (parents), nannies, guides and crying screaming babies like he was alone in the room.

After the director's office, Kevin talked Lily into taking him to Papa John's Pizza. She ordered the pizza for him and he brought it back to the room. Olivia and I didn't go with Kevin to get the passport because Olivia was napping. When she woke up from her nap, she got to eat pizza and she really liked it too.

We checked out of the hotel at 2:00 pm and Lily was waiting for us in the lobby. We had a few minutes before we have to leave so I asked Lily to talk to Olivia and explain to her and we are going to leave and go get on a plane and go to another town before going to America. Lily told her in Chinese everything that I had asked. Olivia was very calm and told her she wanted to ride on a plane. She understood that she was going to fly on a plane and live abroad.
We got to the airport and Lily got us checked in. We had to wait for two hours before our plane was to arrive. Olivia had fun riding around in her stroller for a while, then we went on several walks. Our flight had a one hour delay. When we boarded the plane and got Olivia in her seat, she was very quiet and checked out everything. I thought she was doing pretty good until she figured out the seat belt had to stay on, she fussed a little bit then she went to sleep. Our original time flying was 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. We had an hour delay so we took off at 7:00pm. We were suppose to land at 9:00 pm.  At 8:45 pm, they announced that our flight was diverted to another airport due to weather conditions. It is typhoon season now. They told us when we landed that we were 1 1/2 hour from Guangzhou. They said we would have to take a bus back to the airport, but they were not letting anyone get off of the plane. So we didn't understand what was going on and they didn't explain. We sat on the tarmac for about 30 minutes without explanation, then all of the sudden they announce that we are going to Guangzhou. We got off the plane in Guangzhou at 11:30 pm and got our luggage. We were worried that our guide might not know what was going on. Thank goodness our guide was waiting for us. Her name is Grace. She is very nice and very organized. She gave us a detailed agenda of what we would be doing everyday we are here. She is my kind of girl. We left the airport about midnight and got to the hotel at 12:30 am. When they took us to our room, they brought a baby bed in and Olivia started jumping up and down, clapping her hands. She knew that it was for her. I guess she is tired of sleeping with me and Kevin. I am okay with that.  I thought that we would have a problem because she has been sleeping with us for five days, but I guess not. She is pretty independent. We went to bed around 1:30 am.
